Psycho or why I couldn't fall asleep last night

Edward Hopper (1882-1967) The House by the Railroad

I saw another Hitchcock's masterpiece yesterday and had a hard time falling asleep after it. Not because Psycho (1960) is a horror film (though the famous shower scene and the one with Marion's sister in Norman's house can scare the wits out of you) but because it's second to none in its genre. Initially it received mixed reviews (due to its unprecedented depiction of violence and sexuality) but now is praised as a work of art and a landmark in the cinema history.

It's not like my mother is a maniac or a raving thing. She just goes a little mad sometimes. We all go a little mad sometimes. Have you?

Norman's quiet chichat with Marion in the hotel is an outstanding scene and Anthony Perkins's performance is just brilliant.
